India and Chile have taken a significant step towards strengthening their economic ties by signing terms of reference for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). The agreement aims to build upon the existing Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) between the two nations and includes provisions for cooperation in a wider range of sectors. These sectors encompass digital services, investment promotion, cooperation in Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), intellectual property rights, and trade facilitation. By expanding the scope of the trade pact, both countries seek to enhance their economic cooperation and create new opportunities for businesses in diverse sectors. The agreement is expected to boost bilateral trade and investments, creating a win-win situation for both India and Chile. The CEPA is a crucial step towards deepening the economic engagement between the two nations and fostering a mutually beneficial partnership. Both countries are optimistic that the agreement will pave the way for greater collaboration and growth in key areas of the economy.
