DMK Rajya Sabha member P. Wilson has urged Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to allocate examination centres in Tamil Nadu for B.Ed students. These students will take the SWAYAM July semester exams on December 15 and 16. In his letter, Wilson said many candidates, including 50 from Thanjavur district, were assigned exam centres in Karnataka and Kerala. He called the National Testing Agency's act "arbitrary, unjustifiable, and severely detrimental to the academic interests of students." Wilson pointed out that Tamil Nadu has many teacher education schools, and thousands of B.Ed students depend on SWAYAM exams to get their course certificates. He stressed that students from poor families cannot afford travel and lodging to other states for exams. Wilson added, "This incident cannot be dismissed as a logistical error. Similar issues have occurred repeatedly in NEET, NEET-PG, and other national-level entrance and recruitment examinations."
