The Telangana High Court on Monday stayed the order of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) Hyderabad bench. The CAT had directed the Central and State governments to allocate IAS officer Amrapali Katta's cadre to Telangana State. The bench of Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin passed the stay in a writ petition filed by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). The DoPT challenged the CAT order. Amrapali Katta, a 2010 batch IAS officer, has been serving in Telangana since the state was formed in 2014. But DoPT allocated her cadre to Andhra Pradesh, not Telangana. Katta appealed against this allocation to the CAT-Hyderabad bench. In June, CAT ordered both states and the Center to allow her to continue in Telangana. The DoPT disagreed and filed a writ petition in the Telangana High Court. The High Court has now stayed the CAT order until further notice.
