Owners of Goa Nightclub Fire Escape to Phuket, Police Launch Hunt
December 9, 2025
Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra, owners of the Goa nightclub where a fire killed 25 people, fled to Phuket hours after the tragedy, Goa Police said on Monday, December 8, 2025. The deadly blaze happened late Saturday night, December 6, about 25 km from Panaji. It killed 20 club employees and five tourists, including four from Delhi. Five injured victims are still being treated at Goa Medical College and Hospital.
Goa Police quickly registered a case and issued a Look Out Circular against the owners on December 7 through the Bureau of Intelligence (BOI). A check with Mumbai’s Bureau of Immigration revealed that both accused took a flight (6E 1073) to Phuket at 5:30 a.m. on December 7, just hours after the fire around midnight.
The police sent teams to Delhi to raid the homes of Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra. Since neither was found, notices were posted on their houses, showing their intent to avoid the investigation, a senior officer said.
Goa Police are working with Interpol to arrest the two men as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Bharat Kohli, a club employee, has been taken into custody and is being brought to Goa.
Postmortems of all 25 victims are complete, and their bodies have been handed to families.
