The Telangana BJP has raised doubts about the ₹5.5 lakh crore investment claims made during the Telangana Rising Global Summit. BJP State president N. Ramchander Rao said many companies involved “lacked national recognition” and some could not prove their financial strength. He demanded that the government share full details of these firms to ensure transparency. "Signing agreements with such companies and exaggerating the Telangana Global Summit is nothing but misleading the public. If Chief Minister Revanth Reddy makes deals with fake companies, Hyderabad will become a victim of the world’s biggest fraud," he warned. Mr. Rao also criticized the Congress government's plan to expand the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) by merging 20 municipalities, seven municipal corporations, and some gram panchayats. He claimed this move was politically motivated to benefit the Majlis Party (AIMIM). He urged people to file objections within a week and stressed this is a battle between "development and corrupt governance," not a religious issue. The government says the expansion will raise GHMC's population to 1.69 crore voters and increase the area to nearly 2,000 sq km with 300 wards, making Hyderabad the largest city in India. But Mr. Rao pointed out many current GHMC wards lack basic facilities like roads and sewage systems. He warned that residents in the new areas might face property tax hikes up to double the current rates without improved infrastructure. In a separate statement, BJP spokesperson N.V. Subash accused the government of confusing farmers over land use. He questioned the contradictory claims about the Future City project and the earlier Pharma City plan in Yacharam mandal. "Farmers are questioning how the government can announce a Future City on the same land. If it intends to proceed with the project, will the government withdraw its earlier affidavit to the High Court affirming its commitment to Pharma City?" he asked. The BJP demands that the Telangana government act transparently and prioritize real justice and development over political gains.
