On December 11, 2025, the actor-turned-politician Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) formed two special committees to prepare for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. One committee will handle seat-sharing negotiations with potential alliance partners, while the other will draft the party's election manifesto. This decision was made during a meeting of state and district TVK leaders held at the party headquarters in Panaiyur. The meeting granted Vijay the authority to finalize alliance decisions. A resolution stated the party will welcome parties that accept Vijay as the chief ministerial candidate. With about four months remaining until elections, TVK has not yet formed any alliances to challenge the two main Dravidian-led coalitions in the state. Separately, PMK spokesperson K. Balu met with TVK leaders, including general secretary N. Anand and administrative committee chief coordinator K. A. Sengottaiyan, to invite the party to join a protest demanding a caste survey on December 17.
