Bengaluru Police Probe Animal Carcasses Found in Banaswadi Open Plot
December 12, 2025
Bengaluru police have launched a preliminary inquiry after multiple carcasses of suspected dogs and cats were found in an open area in Banaswadi, East Bengaluru. An animal rights NGO in the city filed a complaint saying several carcasses were discovered in a vacant plot in Subbaiahnapalya. The NGO expressed concern that these animals might have been killed for black magic rituals. A police officer told The Hindu, "The complaint has been acknowledged and the site inspected." However, no First Information Report (FIR) has been filed yet as the police want to conduct a preliminary investigation first. The officer added that the location where the carcasses were found is often used for dumping waste. They believe someone might have found the carcasses elsewhere and dumped them at this spot. Police will review CCTV footage from the area before deciding whether to file an FIR or close the case.
