The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Ernakulam district is almost done. About 98% of enumeration forms have been digitised, with a week left till the final deadline on December 18. On December 11, District Collector G. Priyanka shared updates at a meeting with political party representatives across the 14 assembly constituencies. Some areas show stellar progress. Kothamangalam, Kunnathunad, and Vypeen assembly constituencies have crossed 99% digitisation. Most other segments are above 98%. But Thripunithura (96.7%), Thrikkakara (95.41%), and Ernakulam (94.59%) are slightly behind. Urban zones face big challenges. Voters in cities are harder to find because of a floating population. This slows enumeration, the official sources say. To speed up, the district administration now relies on booth-level agents (BLAs) from political parties. Collector Priyanka said, "The assistance of BLAs is required to complete the digitisation in the three constituencies. A meeting of BLAs along with BLOs will be held in all assembly segments in the district on December 15 and 16." Booth-level officers (BLOs) handle the digitisation work. They input forms returned from voters plus forms marked 'uncollectable'—which include voters who have died, moved away, or gone abroad. The process uses the BLOApp. By the end of November, about 75% of forms were digitised. The pace slowed due to local body elections. Sub-Collector Grandhe Sai Krishna and Deputy Collector (election) Sunil Mathew also attended the update meeting. This revision process across Kerala was first due by December 4 but got a deadline extension twice by the Election Commission of India. The current final date to complete SIR is December 18.
