Arpora-Nagoa Sarpanch Roshan Redkar Appears Before Police in Goa Nightclub Fire Probe

Arpora-Nagoa Sarpanch Roshan Redkar appeared before Anjuna police on the night of December 11, 2025. He was granted interim protection from arrest by a local court in connection with the deadly fire at Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub. The fire, which happened around midnight on December 6, 2025, in Arpora village, North Goa, killed 25 people, including tourists.\n\nRoshan Redkar, along with then panchayat secretary Raghuvir Bagkar, had approached the District and Sessions Court in Panaji on December 11. The court gave them interim relief and scheduled hearing of their anticipatory bail pleas for December 12, 2025.\n\nThe Goa state government suspended Raghuvir Bagkar and two other officers, Shamila Monteiro, former Member Secretary of Goa State Pollution Control Board, and Siddhi Halarnkar, former director of panchayat.\n\nMr. Redkar submitted a copy of the court order to the police and said he is cooperating with the investigation. His lawyer told reporters, "We came here to submit a copy of the order to the police. We have told them that we are cooperating with them in their investigation."\n\nPolice have arrested Ajay Gupta, who claims to be a silent partner and investor in the nightclub, along with five managers and staff members. Meanwhile, authorities in Thailand have detained Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra, the nightclub's co-owners.\n\nThe Ministry of External Affairs is considering Goa government's request to revoke the passports of the co-owners.
