Goa BJP Questions Leaders Over Corruption Comments After Nightclub Fire
December 12, 2025
The Goa BJP has asked clarification from two of its leaders about their comments on corruption following a deadly nightclub fire. On December 6, a blaze at 'Birch by Romeo Lane' in Arpora village killed 25 people, including tourists. MLA Michael Lobo and former Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar claimed there is widespread corruption in Goa's beach belt, causing illegal activities in tourism.
BJP Goa president Damodar Naik said on December 12, "I have heard the statement by both the leaders. I have sought clarification from them for making such statements." He added, "The party cannot be taken for granted. We are running a political organisation. Everyone has to be within the limit."
Naik also responded to AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal's accusation that the BJP is involved in corruption, saying, "Let Mr. Kejriwal tell us why he was thrown out of Delhi. He was claiming to give good governance."
During a press conference, Mr. Naik announced an alliance with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) for the upcoming Zilla Parishad elections set for December 20. He said the parties have shared three of the 50 seats for the MGP and will contest the election together.
