On December 12, 2025, Nandyal district officials rescued six minors from a human trafficking racket. The children, four from Bihar and two from West Bengal, were found on a train heading to Bengaluru. The rescue happened near Gajulapalle railway station when the Child Protection Unit, Bachpan Bachao Andolan, railway police, and NGO members conducted checks based on a tip-off. Officials discovered the children were being taken from Anantapur to Bengaluru to be forced into work. The Railway Police have registered a case and started an investigation. The rescued minors were brought before the Kurnool Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and moved to a government children’s home. CWC chairperson S. Zubaida Begum said, "Steps would be taken to send them to their native places after getting details about their family members. The children would be handed over to their parents through the local CWCs."
