UAE Bans Recognition of Midocean University Degrees Over Serious Violations
December 13, 2025
The UAE’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has declared that all degrees from Midocean University are no longer valid in the country. Graduates cannot use their qualifications for jobs or professional licenses in the UAE anymore. This strict decision follows a deep review uncovering major problems in how the university runs its academic programmes. A joint inspection with the Fujairah Free Zone Authority found "fundamental violations". The university’s Fujairah office was doing more than it was allowed, including offering courses and registrations without MoHESR accreditation. The ministry also found serious lapses in quality control for online programmes and mismatches in student data reported versus reality. The university ignored UAE laws that regulate higher education. After a detailed technical check, MoHESR confirmed these serious breaches and withdrew recognition from Midocean University. The ministry urged all students and parents to always check a university’s official accreditation on the MoHESR website or contact their Customer Happiness Centre at 800511 before enrolling. Students affected by this ban can appeal, but the ministry warned that success is not guaranteed. MoHESR said this action is part of its effort to protect students and keep UAE higher education quality high. This warning stresses the need to verify a university’s official status to ensure degrees are accepted and useful for future careers.
