Telangana Gram Panchayat Elections Phase 2 on Dec 14: 57.22 Lakh Voters to Choose Leaders

The second phase of Telangana Gram Panchayat Elections will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025. Voting starts at 7 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. The counting will begin at 2 p.m. with results expected by early evening. In this phase, 57.22 lakh voters—29.26 lakh females and 27.96 lakh males—will cast their votes. They will choose from 12,782 candidates for 3,911 Sarpanch posts and 71,071 candidates for 29,917 Ward Member posts.
The first phase saw 3,834 Sarpanches, 27,346 Ward Members, and 3,347 Up Sarpanches elected. Out of 56.19 lakh registered voters then, 45.15 lakh voted, marking an 84.28% turnout.
For the second phase, 4,331 Gram Panchayats were notified. Of them, 415 Sarpanches were elected unopposed, and no nominations were received for five, leaving polls in 3,911 Gram Panchayats.
The Telangana State Election Commission asked the Nalgonda Collector to investigate a negligence issue in Chinnakaparthi Gram Panchayat, where election materials were not stored safely.
Wanaparthy Collector Adarsh Surabhi instructed polling staff to allow only the candidates or their agents at counting centers and banned phones during counting. Polling reports are to be sent at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1 p.m.
District Collectors and General Observers inspected polling material distribution centers on Saturday. Nagarkurnool Collector Badavath Santosh warned of action, including suspension, against staff absent from duty. Mahabubnagar Collector Viziendira Boyi checked the distribution center at Zilla Parishad High School in Koukuntla Mandal.
The election is set to be closely watched as millions of voters decide their local leaders in Telangana.
