Mysuru Airport Runs Fog Preparedness Drill for Smooth Operations in Low Visibility
December 13, 2025
Mysuru Airport authorities carried out a thorough fog preparedness drill on December 13. The exercise involved all key internal and external agencies to boost teamwork and readiness during fog-related delays, cancellations, or diversions, said P.V. Usha Kumari, director of Mysuru Airport. The meeting reviewed vital areas like quick sharing of weather info from the India Meteorological Department, coordination among agencies, backup lighting systems, and ground equipment readiness. Special attention was also given to passenger comfort. Measures include clear delay and diversion info, extra staff during disruptions, and help for elderly, pregnant women, children, and passengers with reduced mobility. Coordination with hotels and taxi services aimed to avoid overcharging. A full-scale drill simulated a delayed and later canceled Mysuru–Hyderabad flight due to fog. Passengers were given snacks, water, and helped with refunds or ticket changes. Staff and the Karnataka State Industrial Security Force calmly managed the passenger unrest during the cancellation. Officials from Air Traffic Control, the terminal, Indigo airlines, and security forces took part in the drill. This rehearsal aimed to ensure smooth airport operations and better passenger support in tough weather conditions.
