Guntur district created a new national record by settling 23,287 cases during the National Lok Adalat on Saturday, December 13, 2025. This total included 1,407 civil cases and 21,816 criminal cases, along with 97 pre-litigation matters. The event was conducted under the guidance of Justice Cheekati Manavendranath Roy, executive chairperson of Andhra Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, and Justice Rao Raghunandan Rao, Judge of Andhra Pradesh High Court. The proceedings were led by Judge B. Sai Kalyan Chakravarthi, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Guntur. According to official data, the settlements brought in ₹576.85 crore in total. This amount includes ₹262.04 crore from 338 Motor Vehicle Original Petitions and ₹314.81 crore from 578 cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act. Syed Ziyauddin, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, highlighted two major cases settled amicably during the event, showing the strength of conciliation via the legal services system. Guntur district has been consistent in civil case disposal during past Lok Adalats, having settled 1,076 civil cases on July 5, 2025, and 937 civil cases on September 13, 2025. On December 13, it surpassed both previous records, ranking first nationally for civil case settlements. Among notable settlements was a motor accident claim for ₹1 crore related to the death of Naru Ashok in 2024 near Chilakaluripet. Another key settlement involved five cheque dishonour cases worth ₹20 crore between M/s Vignan Education Foundation Trust and P. Raja Rammohan Rao. This Lok Adalat session has demonstrated Guntur's strong role in speedy dispute resolution and contributing to justice delivery across the state.
