Tirupati district police have made helmets compulsory for all motorcyclists starting Monday, December 15, 2025. After a week of awareness campaigns and warnings, the strict rule was put into force with a grand motorcycle rally involving 700 policemen all wearing helmets. District Collector S. Venkateswar and Superintendent of Police L. Subbarayudu flagged off the rally. Both officials rode together, proudly wearing helmets. The Collector stressed the importance of the new law, linking it to the tragic number of road deaths among people aged 18 to 35. He urged riders, “Do not wear helmet with the fear of getting caught, but with the responsibility towards your family.” The new ‘No Helmet – No Petrol’ rule means petrol stations will only serve fuel to motorcyclists wearing helmets. Superintendent Subbarayudu explained, “This tightens the law further and makes our enforcement easy.” Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu praised the initiative on the social media platform ‘X’. He called the rule effective in ensuring helmet compliance. The rule now applies across all police sub-divisions in Tirupati district. Meanwhile, in Sri City, police and the in-house security team introduced a ‘No Helmet – No entry into Sri City’ policy to promote safe riding. Circle Inspector Srinivas and security chief Y. Ramesh reminded riders that helmets are vital for safety and security.
