Brown University Shooting: FBI Offers $50,000 Reward in Hunt for Suspect After Release of Person of Interest
December 16, 2025
The Brown University shooting case took a new turn as police revealed fresh surveillance footage of a suspect two hours before the tragic event on Saturday. The Providence Police Department shared videos showing a masked individual in dark, two-tone clothing near the campus at around 2 pm. In one 13-second clip, the person walks along a sidewalk by a picket fence. Other short clips show the same person crossing a street and walking next to an iron gate. These images came a day after police released a man previously held as a person of interest. The FBI described the suspect as about 5-feet-8 with a stocky build. Authorities believe this individual is armed and dangerous. To help catch the suspect, the FBI announced a reward of $50,000 for information leading to their identification, arrest, and conviction. Providence Police Chief Oscar L. Perez, Jr. confirmed the shooter "definitely targeted Brown University." He added, "I can also tell you that obviously it’s something that we’re looking into – as far if there was anything else that he was targeting, but it’s all open." The investigation remains ongoing as the manhunt enters its third day.
