CBI Books 5 for Cheating People with Fake US and Europe Job Offers
December 16, 2025
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered two cases against five alleged human trafficking agents who cheated people by promising jobs in the United States and Europe. One victim was caught by the U.S. Army while trying to enter illegally and deported to India on February 16. The first case names Balwinder Singh from Haryana's Karnal, his brother-in-law Sahib Singh, and friend Amrit Singh. They promised jobs in the U.S. and helped illegal entry through traffickers. Government data shows 1,703 Indians were deported from the U.S. between January and July 2025, mostly from Punjab, Haryana, and Gujarat. One victim, Ravinder Singh, paid ₹25 lakh for legal US entry and houseware jobs but was transported illegally through multiple countries and suffered abuse. He was arrested while trying to enter the U.S. illegally and deported. The second case involves Manoj Panwar and his brother Anuj Panwar from Bhiwani, Haryana. They offered better jobs in Europe, tricking victims Navdeep and Ashish into paying ₹14.5 lakh each. They promised jobs in Luxembourg, then changed plans to Germany via Kazakhstan. In Kazakhstan, their passports were seized under false pretenses. The victims were forced into menial labor and denied proper food. Manoj demanded full payment before returning passports but stopped contacting victims after receiving ₹4 lakh each. The victims lost about ₹3.75 lakh each and finally complained to the police in Almaty. The Indian Embassy helped them get emergency papers to return home on July 6. The CBI is investigating these cases of job fraud and human trafficking.
