Justice Gannamaneni Ramakrishna Prasad of Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday suggested that Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) should use machines to sort and count money offerings. This recommendation comes amidst past thefts reported in the counting process called Parakamani. The judge highlighted that AI-powered CCTV systems could enhance monitoring and reduce theft risks by limiting human error. He stressed the need to protect people’s faith and secure offerings without disrupting traditional practices under Agama Shastra. Since counting is now done outside temple premises, mechanization and stopping outsourcing are possible and desirable, he noted. Justice Prasad has scheduled the hearing again on December 19. Senior counsel Unnam Muralidhar Rao said the judge strongly pushed for ideas to stop irregularities in handling donations.
