Slight rain, cloudy skies, and gusty winds will affect parts of the UAE today, Wednesday, 17 December. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) predicts overcast skies and occasional rainfall. Convective clouds are forming over islands and will spread to coastal, northern, and eastern regions. Yellow alerts are in place for fresh southeasterly winds. These winds may lift dust and sand, lowering visibility below 2,000 metres in northern and eastern areas from morning until late afternoon. Winds will blow from southeast to northeast at 15 to 30 km/h and could gust up to 50 km/h. Temperatures will dip slightly, ranging from 20ºC to 25ºC in Abu Dhabi, 21ºC to 26ºC in Dubai, and 19ºC to 25ºC in Sharjah. Mountain areas may feel as cold as 8ºC, while internal regions could reach 30ºC. Sea conditions will be moderate to rough in the Arabian Gulf and light to moderate in the Sea of Oman. This active weather system will continue through Friday, 19 December. Rainfall is expected to increase from Thursday, starting in western areas and moving east. Abu Dhabi may see showers late Thursday night, spreading to the north, Al Ain, and eastern regions by Friday. Cloud cover will lessen by Friday evening, with further temperature drops. Residents should stay alert and follow local guidelines. Caution is needed in areas with strong winds, dust, and rough seas. The NCM is closely monitoring the weather and will provide updates as the situation develops.
