US Visa Bulletin 2026: EB-1 India Green Card Wait Time Shortens by One Year
December 18, 2025
The US State Department released the first visa bulletin for 2026, offering good news for Indian Green Card applicants in the EB-1 category. Their Final Action Date advanced by nearly one year to February 1, 2023. This means holders in the EB-1 category, such as senior researchers, managers, and founders, will face shorter wait times for their Green Cards. The EB-1 category receives 28.6% of the annual employment-based Green Card quota. Other significant movements include EB-1 China also moving forward to February 1, 2023, EB-2 Rest of World advancing to April 1, 2024, and EB-2 India moving two months ahead to July 15, 2013. EB-3 India and China categories showed forward movement of about two months and one month, respectively. Family-based visa categories saw no change and continue to face long delays. The visa bulletin is especially important amid the Trump administration's crackdown on immigration. While this bulletin mainly affects employment-based Green Card applicants and not non-immigrant visa holders like H-1B, it provides encouragement for high-skilled foreign workers. EB-5 categories for China and India also moved forward slightly, and EB-5 set-asides remain current across all countries.
