WazirX customers are upset after the crypto exchange auto-enrolled them in its WazirX ZERO subscription. This service charges a fixed ₹99 monthly fee for unlimited trades. Earlier, traders paid fees on each transaction. Users took to X to express confusion and anger over automatic deductions they did not agree to. WazirX resumed operations in October after a wallet hack and restructured. It introduced WazirX ZERO in November as a new fee model to remove per-trade charges. The exchange said this would help users trade unlimited volumes of over 300 tokens for a flat ₹99 fee. CEO Nischal Shetty called WazirX ZERO the “right plan for most of the users” but confirmed those who do not want it can contact support. However, critics say automatic enrollment without clear consent is a “dark pattern,” considered deceptive. India’s largely unregulated crypto market makes legal complaints difficult. WazirX ZERO went live for all in December, making it the default plan on the platform. Users continue to demand an opt-in choice and clearer communication.
