HYDRAA Reclaims 20 Acres of Government Land in Hyderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri
December 19, 2025
The Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) reclaimed 20 acres of government land in two operations on Friday in Hyderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts.
In Kandikal village of Bandlaguda Jagir, HYDRAA secured about seven acres, including a water body, at Mohammed Nagar-Lalita Bagh. The original 9.11 acres of land is surrounded by a dense residential area and has faced legal disputes. Two acres had been encroached with houses built on them. Attempts to take over the remaining seven acres by filling a water body were halted by HYDRAA, which confirmed the water body's presence through Survey of India maps.
An illegal occupant was fined ₹1 crore for filing a false case but is still claiming the land, said a HYDRAA statement.
In another operation in Nizampet, following a request from Revenue department officials, HYDRAA found that four acres of land had permanent houses, which were not disturbed. The agency cleared temporary structures from the remaining 13 acres and installed fencing and signboards to protect the area.
HYDRAA chief A.V. Ranganath directed the field inspections and actions to prevent further encroachments.
