A Paris court has refused to suspend Shein's website following a complaint about childlike sex dolls sold on its platform. The French government wanted a three-month suspension, but the court called this "disproportionate." The issue arose after France's consumer watchdog flagged the sale of "sex dolls with a childlike appearance" and weapons on Shein's site. The court admitted these were serious concerns but said they were isolated cases. It noted Shein removed the offending products quickly after being informed. The court ordered Shein to enforce age verification for adult product sales, with fines of €10,000 for breaches. Shein said it prioritizes protecting French consumers and complying with laws. After the controversy, Shein announced a global ban on all sex dolls. The company’s first physical store in Paris opened amid protests focusing on these sales and fast-fashion criticism. Shein stated, "We remain committed to continuously improving our control processes, in close collaboration with the French authorities, with the aim of establishing some of the most stringent standards in the industry."
