Sub-Inspector Nagaraj of Yelahanka New Town police has been suspended for alleged links with an accused involved in many land disputes and civil cases. The suspension order was issued on Friday by Ramesh Banoth, Joint Commissioner (East Division). Nagaraj was seen in public with the accused Dasa, despite knowing his background. Videos and photos showing the policeman celebrating a birthday with Dasa and appearing publicly while on duty went viral on social media. Following public criticism, Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh ordered an inquiry led by Mr. Banoth. The report confirmed that Nagaraj was closely associated with Dasa. Sources said Dasa does not have cases within city limits but is involved in several cases, including mediating civil disputes, in Bengaluru Rural jurisdiction. This suspension comes amid repeated warnings by Home Minister G. Parameshwara and Director-General of Police M.A. Saleem against police officers’ involvement in civil cases. With Nagaraj’s suspension, 131 officers have been suspended so far in 2025 for similar violations.
