Palnadu district in Andhra Pradesh saw a shocking double murder early Sunday. Two brothers, Kotha Hanumantha Rao and Kotha Sriramamurthy, were hacked to death in Adigoppala village of Durgi mandal. Both were sympathisers of the Telugu Desam Party. Hanumantharao was killed near Boddurai Centre, and Sriramamurthy near the Nidhanampadu Ammavari temple. The fatal attacks happened after midnight inside Durgi police station limits. They died on the spot with severe head injuries from hunting sickles, police said. Palnadu Superintendent of Police B. Krishna Rao said the killings stem from a long-standing personal rivalry. “There was a clash between two families around two to three months ago over some issues. That incident appears to have triggered the present murders,” he stated. Police have named prime suspects as Yaganti Naresh, 30, and Puvvada Ramalingam, 32, both from the same village. The accused fled after the attack. Authorities rushed to the scene, moved the bodies for post-mortem, and registered a case. Special police teams are searching for the suspects. Security in Adigoppala has been tightened to avoid more violence.
