On December 22, 2025, police fired at accused Ajay after he attacked a circle inspector during an arrest attempt on Anantapur town outskirts. Ajay had stabbed a friend, Chakali Raja, after a fight over liquor. Raja is now on a ventilator at Government General Hospital. Ajay fled the scene, prompting a police search. On Monday morning, police spotted Ajay near the TV Tower area. As officers approached, Ajay attacked an auto driver and fled into nearby bushes, also trying to stab a woman and a constable. Ajay jumped into a lake and escaped but was later found hiding in tall sugarcane fields. Police circled the fields and asked him to surrender. Instead, Ajay attacked Inspector Srikanth, stabbing him on the left shoulder. Police fired a warning shot and then shot Ajay in the knees when he attacked again. Despite injuries, Ajay threatened to kill officers if approached. Both Ajay and Inspector Srikanth were admitted to the Government General Hospital for treatment. Ajay has a known criminal history and is very aggressive. Superintendent of Police P. Jagadeesh said, "Stringent action will be taken against Ajay as per law."
