The Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP), together with the Rural Economic and Educational Development Society (REEDS), launched the India Regional edition of the CIRDAP–REEDS International Rural Development Innovation Challenge 2026 in Hyderabad on Monday. The theme is “One Innovation. Endless Change. Countless Smiles.” The challenge focuses on identifying and supporting rural innovations that have shown real impact at the grassroots level and can be scaled up across Asia and the Pacific. The launch event gathered policymakers, development experts, academicians, and civil leaders in rural development. Notable attendees included Panchayat Raj Minister D. Anusuya alias Seethakka, Bellampally MLA G. Vinod, G. Narendra Kumar, Director General of NIRDPR, Dr. P. Chandra Shekara, Director General of CIRDAP, and M. Ravindra Vikram, Chairman of REEDS. The Innovation Challenge will feature an international compendium of selected innovations and culminate with an International Conference planned for Sri Lanka in June 2026. The programme closed with an open-house discussion, a media interaction, and a vote of thanks from Dr. Ravi K. Reddy, Secretary of REEDS. This joint initiative invites practitioners, institutions, entrepreneurs, researchers, and grassroots innovators to participate and showcase rural innovations with strong potential for replication and scale. It aims to create lasting change and spread smiles across rural Asia and the Pacific.
