The Telangana government has launched a generous one-time settlement scheme offering a 90% waiver on accumulated interest for property tax arrears within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits for the financial year 2025-26. A Government Order signed by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao said the waiver applies to both private and government properties. Property owners who pay the principal amount of their outstanding property tax along with 10% of the accumulated interest in a single payment can avail the waiver. "The decision was taken after examining a proposal from the GHMC Commissioner, seeking relief for taxpayers with long-pending dues," the order stated. The scheme aims to clear tax backlogs and boost municipal revenue. The government has tasked the GHMC Commissioner with implementing the scheme smoothly. This one-time waiver scheme covers all property tax interest arrears up to FY 2025-26, allowing taxpayers to settle dues with reduced financial burden.
