The Basavanagudi police arrested 46-year-old Revathi, a Kannada lecturer at a private college near Bellandur, Bengaluru. She led a double life by teaching on weekdays and stealing valuables from wedding functions on Sundays. Police say she would enter marriage halls pretending to be a relative of the bride or groom. By talking with guests, she gained their trust and stole gold jewellery. One reported theft happened on November 25 at Dwarakanath Kalyana Mantapa in Basavanagudi. Revathi lives in K.R. Puram, east Bengaluru, and is originally from Shivamogga. She targeted multiple marriage halls across the city on Sundays. During questioning, she confessed to three theft cases and said she stole to pay for her ailing husband's medical expenses. Police recovered 262 grams of gold worth ₹32 lakh, pawned at several jewellery shops. She is now in police custody.
