The Chittoor district administration and CMC Vellore Chittoor campus signed a Memorandum of Agreement on Tuesday to improve healthcare access for the town's urban population. The Pact, under a Public-Private Partnership model, was signed by Collector Sumit Kumar and CMC Vellore Director Dr. Vikram Mathews at the Collectorate. According to the deal, CMC Vellore will place doctors at the old government maternity center in Mittoor ward. They will provide outpatient services, medical consultations, and coordinate care. Additionally, mobile medical units will serve urban slum areas, extending vital health services. Collector Sumit Kumar described the step as "a new and innovative step towards enhancing the standards of urban primary health care." He said, "The government was happy to support and promote such Public-Private Partnerships in the public health sector and was looking forward to similar initiatives in the future." Dr. Vikram Mathews underscored CMC's commitment: "Serving the healthcare needs of socially and economically marginalised communities was the core mission of CMC. I am happy to collaborate with the government to further this mission and deliver quality care to the community." The signing was also attended by District Medical and Health Officer Dr. Sudharani, Municipal Commissioner Narasimha Prasad, Municipal Health Officer Dr. Lokesh, Associate Director of CMC Chittoor Campus Dr. Uday Zachariah, Medical Superintendent Dr. I. Rajesh, and ICMR Project Scientist Dr. M.R. Lokesh.
