Trouble hit the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) with a protest outside its headquarters near Chennai on Tuesday. Ajitha Agnel, a TVK leader from Thoothukudi district, blocked the car of party president Vijay. She was angry because she was not made the party’s district secretary. Ajitha and her supporters then staged a sit-in protest in front of the party office. TVK officials tried to calm the situation and asked her to leave. TVK deputy general secretary C.T.R. Nirmalkumar said, "When Vijay Makkal Iyakkam was converted into TVK, several postings were realigned and the number of posts at the district level was reduced." He added, "It was common for some workers to feel disappointed and such issues occur in all parties." Nirmalkumar assured that Mr. Vijay would resolve the problem. The protest exposed early signs of infighting within the young party.
