Grievances over relocating the Ribandar post office to Old Goa have prompted chief minister Pramod Sawant to direct officials to explore the possibility of rent-free space at the old Goa Institute of Management (GIM) building at Ribandar, which houses a few govt departments. The matter was taken up following a letter from Utpal Parrikar requesting the shifting of the post office back to Ribandar. The postal department informed that the request for space allotment has been considered. The Ribandar post office, which has been operating rent-free at the GIM premises since 1997, was temporarily relocated to Old Goa due to a roof collapse in 2014. Efforts are underway to find alternate space for the post office in Ribandar.
