AI Is Now Conducting Job Interviews With Fake Human Avatars, Blurring Real And Virtual
December 24, 2025
Artificial intelligence is no longer just scanning resumes or ranking candidates. It is now stepping into the interview room — with fake human avatars. A job applicant posted on Reddit about an online interview with a smiling woman who asked perfect questions instantly. Her head movements seemed unnatural; answers repeated word-for-word when the same questions were asked. The screen even froze for a moment, but the interview carried on as if nothing happened. The candidate asked, “I’m not against AI in hiring, but if an interviewer is basically a talking bot, shouldn’t candidates at least be told?” Many agreed this raised a serious question about honesty in recruitment.
In another post from the recruiter’s side, an AI engineering candidate moved their head oddly during a video call and gave then perfect, nonstop answers without normal pauses or filler words. When the recruiter repeated the same question three times, the AI spoke the same scripted answer each time. Later, HR confirmed the real person appeared only briefly, then an AI took over the call, even matching the candidate’s LinkedIn photo. The recruiter summed it up: “Recruiting hell has officially entered the uncanny valley.”
While this isn’t yet common, interviews are the last human step in hiring that AI is starting to replace. AI now mimics faces, voices, and speech patterns quickly and well. Tools erase pauses, create lifelike faces, and imitate natural imperfections. Today, repetition can still reveal this tech; soon, even that might disappear. The line between real and fake is quietly crossed, as AI breaks new ground in recruitment.
