A tragic accident took place on Tuesday afternoon, December 23, 2025, on Attapur road in Hyderabad, killing a traffic police home guard. The driver of the goods carrier involved was 21-year-old M. Uday Kiran from Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh. Police say he did not have the licence to drive a heavy motor vehicle, which is mandatory to operate such a goods carrier. Preliminary investigations suggest Kiran may have fallen asleep while driving. The crash happened near pillar number 192 on the P. V. Narasimha Rao Expressway. The victim, 40-year-old Syed Abdul Sattar, was riding his two-wheeler home after completing his duty at Tolichowki traffic police station. The goods vehicle hit his bike from behind, flinging Sattar off and causing fatal injuries. A senior police official said, "The negligence was entirely on the part of the goods carrier driver. He had no heavy vehicle licence and was authorised only to drive a light motor vehicle. He also lacked a transport licence, which is mandatory for carrying goods." Investigators found Kiran had been driving overnight, carrying fruits and vegetables from Anantapur to Bowenpally market. The accident occurred during his return journey. The goods carrier has been seized for mechanical checks to exclude vehicle faults. Kiran is currently under police questioning. Tolichowki Traffic Inspector G. Venkateshwarlu confirmed that Sattar had done an early morning shift on Tuesday before travelling home. Sattar had served since 2021 and is survived by his wife and four children. The Attapur police have registered a case and are continuing investigations.
