Telangana Faces Cold Wave; Lowest Winter Temperature Hits 4.5°C
December 24, 2025
Telangana has felt the cold wave for the last two weeks. The lowest temperature this winter is 4.5°C. The coldest ever since 2015 was 2°C on January 10, 2015. Other low marks are 2.7°C on December 31, 2018, and 3.0°C on December 26, 2015. This data comes from the Telangana Development Planning Society.
Temperatures drop sharply at night, after 12:30 a.m. and remain low till about 5:30 a.m. A quick rise of 5° to 8°C occurs between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. The 'Weather and Climatology of Telangana' report explains this by the semi-arid soil nature causing sudden temperature changes after sunset or sunrise.
In December, minimum temperatures of around 5°C have been recorded in districts like Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem, Peddapalli, Mancherial, Sangareddy, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, and Siddipet.
Within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area, local lows of 11°C have been noted. This seasonal dip makes Telangana's chilly winter a hot topic among residents.
