UAE braces for cooler weather, rain, and fog from Dec 25 to 29
December 24, 2025
The UAE’s weather is changing this week with cooler temperatures and rainy skies. From December 25 to December 29, a weak low-pressure system will move across the country. This brings milder days and cooler nights.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), daytime weather will be mostly fair to partly cloudy. Nights will be cooler, with fog or mist forming in inland and coastal areas. Winds will be light to moderate but may pick up occasionally.
There is a forecast of scattered rain showers through the weekend. The Northern Emirates and islands have the highest chance of rainfall. While most showers will be light, some northern areas could see heavy downpours. Cloud cover will last until December 29, so residents should keep indoor options handy for outdoor plans.
Authorities warn of two key hazards. High humidity overnight will create thick fog and mist in inland and western regions, reducing visibility on roads. Drivers are urged to slow down and follow police instructions. Sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and Sea of Oman will be calm until Saturday, but fresh northwesterly winds will make the seas rough by Sunday. Mariners and beachgoers are advised to avoid deep-sea activities as wind speeds rise.
This week marks the coldest spell of the season for the UAE. At Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah, a low of 3.5°C was recorded recently. As rain and clouds linger, daytime temperatures will stay moderate but nights will get quite cold, especially in deserts and mountains.
Campers planning trips over Christmas should carry heavy winter clothes, as the mix of cold wind and humidity will make it feel even colder than the actual temperature.
