The Andhra Pradesh government has fixed the price of wheat atta at ₹20 per kg for distribution through the Public Distribution System (PDS) starting January 2026. As per G.O. Rt. No. 66 from the Consumer Affairs, Food and Civil Supplies Department, wheat given by the Government of India under the “Tide-Over” category will now be converted into wheat atta. This change aims to make it easier for beneficiaries to consume wheat and improve nutritional intake. The conversion covers milling, packing, transportation, handling, and administrative costs along with the Central Issue Price of wheat. After reviewing these expenses, the government fixed the consumer price at ₹20 per kg, which includes ₹1 per kg commission to Fair Price Shop dealers. The decision follows the guidelines of the National Food Security Act, 2013. The revised price will apply to wheat atta distributed under PDS from January 2026 onwards.
