Christmas was celebrated with enthusiasm by Catholic and Protestant Christians in Kittur's towns and cities on December 25. The celebrations included prayer services, feeding the poor, carol singing, and cultural programs. Hubballi and Dharwad saw special vibrancy as churches like Hebich Memorial, All Saints, Holy Cross, Basel Mission, and CSI Maier Memorial were brightly lit and crowded for Christmas mass. Many Christians placed the traditional Christmas Star outside their homes, lighting up neighborhoods with colorful decorations. Cake, sweets, chocolates, and gifts sold well in shops for over a week. Some Christian families shared sweets with non-Christian neighbors and invited friends to join their festivities. At Hubballi's CSI Maier Memorial Church, Rev. Sattyababu Samuel led the Christmas service alongside Rev. Raju Medgoppa and Rev. Moses Huggi. Bible readings and prayers by Isaac Putlar and Shobha Shotakki enriched the event. Academic achievers received prizes, and the choir performed special Christmas hymns. Rev. Samuel emphasized the theme “Preciousness of Life,” saying, "The birth of Jesus Christ symbolised hope and salvation." He urged the congregation to live in faith and not fear, reminding them, "God had sent his only son for the redemption of humanity." The service ended with the Lord’s Prayer and benediction. Rev. Martin Borgai, Bishop of CSI Karnataka Northern Diocese, participated in the All Saints Church Christmas service in Dharwad. He highlighted Christmas as a festival of compassion, peace, love, and sacrifice. He said, "Christmas is not a festival limited only to the Christian community. We must love one another without considering caste or differences." He praised the spirit of unity and participation by people of all faiths. Bishop Borgai added, "In today’s modern world filled with haste and tension, may the festival of Christmas help us build better relationships, remove differences of opinion, break down the walls created by divisions of religion and sects, and foster healthy and cordial relations." He called for moving forward with "brotherhood, love, closeness, and fraternity" to give Christmas its true meaning. Similar celebrations were seen in many churches across the region, with children and elders dressed festively. The Christmas spirit brought joy, peace, and togetherness to the twin cities and beyond.
