Four Policemen Injured in Jaipur During Stone Pelting Over Mosque Railings
December 26, 2025
Four policemen were injured early on Friday, December 26, 2025, when a mob pelted stones at them while they were removing iron railings outside a mosque in Jaipur district. The incident happened at around 3 a.m. near the bus stand in Chomu town, about 40 kilometres from Jaipur. Police said the railings were encroaching on the road, which led to tension. Authorities used tear gas and mild force to scatter the crowd. Director General of Police Sanjay Agarwal said, "The situation is completely under control. Four policemen sustained injuries in stone pelting. Strict action will be taken against those taking law into their hands." Deputy Superintendent of Police Usha Yadav added, "Two to three others have also sustained minor injuries. All senior police officers are on the spot. Additional police personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order." On December 25, talks were held with community members who agreed to remove stones placed on the road outside the mosque. But after the stones were removed, some people started putting up iron railings to make a boundary. This triggered fresh objections since the railings blocked the road. When police used a JCB machine to remove the railings on Friday, some miscreants began stone pelting, injuring four policemen who were admitted to hospital. To prevent escalation, extra police forces arrived from nearby stations including Harmada and Vishwakarma. The internet in Chomu was suspended for 24 hours as a safety step. Police have been conducting flag marches since morning to keep peace. Senior officers have formed teams to identify and arrest those behind the violence.
