Scores of protesters, including women activists and the Unnao rape survivor's mother, gathered outside the Delhi High Court on Friday, December 26, 2025. They protested days after Kuldeep Sengar, a former BJP MLA, was granted bail despite being convicted in the Unnao rape case. The protesters held placards and chanted slogans like “Balatkariyo ko sanrakshan dena band kro” (stop protecting rapists) to support the survivor. Women activists from the All India Democratic Women's Association and activist Yogita Bhayana joined the rally. The survivor’s mother told PTI, "I am not blaming the entire high court, but only the two judges whose decision has shattered our trust." She said earlier judges had delivered justice, but now the accused had been given bail. "This is an injustice towards our family. We will approach the Supreme Court, as I have faith in it," she added. On Tuesday, the Delhi High Court ordered Kuldeep Sengar's release on bail while his appeal against conviction is pending. The court set strict conditions: Sengar must stay at least five kilometers away from the victim’s home and avoid threatening the survivor or her mother. Breaking these rules could cancel his bail. Sengar remains in jail for a separate 10-year sentence linked to the custodial death of the survivor's father and has not received bail in that case. The protest highlights strong public outrage over the bail decision and ongoing fight for justice in this high-profile case.
