European leaders, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, will join a call on Saturday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump. This is part of growing peace talks ahead of Zelenskyy's trip to Florida on Sunday to meet Trump. Zelenskyy said the meeting will focus on sensitive issues like Ukrainian security, reconstruction, and territorial talks involving Donbas and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant. He said the 20-point peace plan is “90% ready” and they aim to finalize it. Zelenskyy is open to a public referendum if Russia agrees to a 60-day ceasefire, Axios reported. However, the early hours of Saturday brought powerful missile attacks on Kyiv, including Kinzhal hypersonic, Iskander ballistic, and Kalibr cruise missiles. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed at least five injured and a fire in the Holosiivskyi district. There were power outages near Brovary and a nationwide air alert in Ukraine. Russian strikes also affected southeastern Poland, causing fighter jets to scramble and closing Rzeszów and Lublin airports temporarily. Diplomatic moves follow last weekend’s talks in Miami involving Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff, Russian and Ukrainian representatives, and Jared Kushner. The current peace plan updates a previous 28-point proposal seen as favoring Russia. Ukraine demands Nato-like security guarantees, but Russian acceptance is unclear. Trump told Politico he expects a “good” meeting but has not approved Zelenskyy’s plan yet. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov criticized Zelenskyy and Europeans for efforts to block the deal and said without resolving core issues, peace is impossible.
