Tamil Nadu Health and Family Welfare Minister Ma. Subramanian on December 26, 2025, issued job regularisation orders to 169 contract nurses. He said regularisation for 831 more nurses will be done before the Pongal festival. The Minister also released a seniority list of 15,645 nurses, updating the initial list from 2004 after a 21-year gap. This new list includes about 4,000 additional nurses. The State government will soon extend one year of paid maternity leave to nurses recruited through the Medical Services Recruitment Board. The monthly pay for temporary nurses was earlier ₹14,000 but has been increased to ₹18,000. Payments for over 400 nurses were withheld earlier due to paperwork issues, but arrears will now be paid, the Minister confirmed.
