Members of the Kudachi Bagalkot railway line agitation committee have started a protest for fast work on the planned railway line joining Belagavi and Bagalkot districts. The protest, led by Qutbuddin Khaji, committee president, saw attendance from leaders of several parties. MP Priyanka Jarkiholi visited the protest site in Kudachi and met the protestors. The committee handed a memorandum to the Union government through her. Their key demands include starting the railway line from Kudachi, upgrading the local station, and renaming it as Hazrat Maa Saheb Kudachi junction. MP Jarkiholi said, "She will take up the issue with the Minister of Railways." Important leaders like Shivalingeshwar Swami of Durdundeshwar Math, Laxmanrao Chingle, and Amit Ghatage were also present. Meanwhile, MP Jagadish Shettar announced that the Railways Department agreed to revive plans for a railway line from Lokaopur in Bagalkot district to Dharwad, passing through Saundatti and Ramdurg. The project had been put on hold earlier. A new traffic and feasibility study is underway. After its submission, the report will go to the Railway Board for approval, Mr. Shettar said.
