Doctors at the Palvancha Community Health Centre (CHC) in Bhadradri Kothagudem saved the life of a man who tried to commit suicide. The patient, from West Bengal, runs a noodle cart in Kothagudem and had a severe neck injury. He attempted suicide due to personal problems around two weeks ago. He was supposed to be sent to MGM Hospital in Warangal. On December 9, while the patient was being moved, the District Coordinator of Health Services and ENT surgeon Ravi Babu got word from the family. He quickly stopped the transfer and did emergency surgery at the Palvancha CHC. The surgery took nearly two hours and was crucial during the golden hour to save the man's life. Dr. Ravi Babu said, "The surgery, which would ordinarily be carried out at a super-specialty hospital, was performed at the CHC during the critical golden hour. Following the procedure, the patient was shifted to the ICU at the Area Hospital, Bhadrachalam, for further observation and treatment." After two weeks of round-the-clock care, the man was discharged on December 22. District Collector Jitesh V. Patil praised the success as proof of the growing strength of public healthcare in the district. Bhadrachalam MLA Tellam Venkata Rao added, "The successful surgery demonstrated what government doctors are capable of when they receive encouragement and administrative support. Even in Agency areas, remarkable medical intervention is possible when doctors are motivated." For support, contact Roshni suicide prevention helpline: 8142020033/44 or 040-66202000/2001.
