Fire Rages Through Two Coaches of Tatanagar-Ernakulam Express Near Yelamanchili

In the early hours of Monday, December 29, 2025, a fire struck two coaches of Train No. 18189 Tatanagar-Ernakulam Junction Super Fast Express near Yelamanchili Railway station in Andhra Pradesh's Anakapalli district. Coaches B-1 and M-2 were engulfed in flames and badly damaged. The fire started around 1:11 a.m., according to South Central Railway officials. Immediately after noticing the fire, officials alerted the fire department. Two fire tenders arrived quickly and worked to extinguish the fire. Senior railway officials rushed to the site and detached the affected coaches from the train. Initial reports from railway officials stated there were no casualties. However, unconfirmed sources claim one person may have died in the fire. A senior official said, "The fire was huge," and added that investigations are ongoing to confirm casualties and determine the fire's cause. The incident is under active monitoring, and efforts continue to ensure safety and clarity about the accident.
