Indian-Origin Investor Urges Young Indians to Stay in India Amid US Visa Backlash
December 29, 2025
An Indian-origin investor and founder of the Indian American Advocacy Council, Sidharth, advised young Indians not to move to the US. He said Indians can stay in India and build a future as the world admires Indian talent. His message came during a rise in social media attacks against Indians and H-1B visa holders, accused of stealing US jobs. Sidharth tweeted, "Let others fight over narratives and immigration talking points. INDIAN STUDENTS should be busy creating outcomes. They want you to chase their dream because they know what happens when Indian talent stays home: India stops being a 'market'… and becomes the maker of the future." He added that India's rise "is not a prediction, it's inevitable." However, social media users, mostly Indians, criticized Sidharth. Many asked him to take his own advice and return to India. Indian YouTuber Sandeep Manudhane accused him of eliminating future competition by urging youth to stay home. Manudhane wrote, "Stays in the US. Pumps Indian young talent as outstanding. Pushes them to not try reaching the US. Eliminates future competition." When asked when he would return, Sidharth replied, "I'm an American. I am home." Another user mocked him for living in the US while telling others to stay in India, calling it "NRI top the hypocrisy scale." The Indian American Advocacy Council condemned recent online attacks on Indians. The group stated, "Threats against an ethnic community are not acceptable. Not online. Not anywhere." They also protested targeting Vivek Ramaswamy’s children, who face online abuse due to their father's Indian origin before the Ohio election.
