The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved capital acquisition proposals worth about ₹79,000 crore on Monday, December 29, 2025. This covers new purchases for the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. For the Indian Army, the DAC approved buying Loiter Munition Systems for precise strikes, Low Level Light Weight Radars to detect small drones, Long Range Guided Rockets for the Pinaka Multiple Launch Rocket System, and the Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction System Mk-II. The defence ministry said these will improve target precision, radar tracking, and battlefield protection. For the Indian Navy, the council approved purchasing Bollard Pull Tugs to help ships in harbours, High Frequency Software Defined Radio Manpack systems for long-range secure communication, and leasing High Altitude Long Endurance Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems. These will boost naval support, communication, and maritime surveillance in the Indian Ocean region. The Indian Air Force got approval for the Automatic Take-off and Landing Recording System to improve flight safety, Astra Mk-II beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles with enhanced range, Full Mission Simulators for Tejas aircraft pilot training, and SPICE-1000 long-range guidance kits. These will raise safety, strike range, training quality, and precision attack capability. The Defence Ministry released these details late Monday evening.
