Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor emphasized the importance of halting dangerous unauthorised construction, particularly of fourth and fifth floors in the city's residential regions. Kapoor urged the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), city Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh, and the city Police Commissioner to approach the Supreme Court to seek clarity on what constitutes 'illegal construction'. He highlighted that adherence to designated land use as per the Delhi Master Plan 2021 and payment of relevant fees to the MCD are crucial for ensuring legal construction and usage. Kapoor also pointed out the need to inform the Supreme Court that both the Central and Delhi governments have instructed the Delhi Police to abstain from engaging in construction-related activities that are legal. He further pressed for clarification from the MCD on whether buildings being constructed according to approved maps, lawful repairs, and various commercial uses in specified street zones are deemed illegal by the Supreme Court.
