Mysuru Prepares for Heavy Devotee Crowd at Chamundi Hills on New Year 2026
December 30, 2025
Mysuru’s Deputy Commissioner, G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, has ordered strong preparations for the arrival of many devotees at Chamundi Hills on January 1, 2026. This is due to the New Year celebrations and a special Lalitha Sahasranama program on January 2. The weekend on January 3 and 4 is also expected to attract visitors.
Mr. Reddy told officials in a meeting on December 30 to add more queue lines at the Chamundeshwari Temple to manage the crowd and prevent overcrowding. He also stressed smooth vehicle movement and enough parking. For heavy crowds, he suggested parking dignitaries’ vehicles near the Mahishasura statue and using battery-operated vehicles to move people.
Drinking water points will increase, and extra sanitation workers will keep the area clean. Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation will run additional buses to Chamundi Hills. The Health Department will have two ambulances ready.
Quality checks are ordered on food and prasada given by donors, even if made at Dasoha Bhavan. Officials must stay alert to avoid any untoward incidents.
The meeting included Mysuru Zilla Panchayat CEO Yukesh Kumar, Chamundi Hills Authority secretary Roopa, and Chamundeshwari Temple priest Shashishekhar Dikshit.
